With the weather warming up and the days getting longer, the WESTWOOD Sales Team is thrilled to have the sun still shining for a few hours after our work day is over. This has given me the opportunity to explore some of the many recreational activities near WESTWOOD that are perfect to enjoy with your friends and family. 

The Colony Farm Regional Park is a five minute drive along Lougheed Hwy and offers an abundance of beautiful open fields and natural grasses. Being home to over 150 different species of birds, it`s a great area for bird watching as one can find hawks, ducks, and even owls. One may enjoy a leisurely stroll as they take in the scenery through one of its many trails: Homes Dyke Farm Trail, Wilson Farm Dyke Trail, Garden Trail, Mundy Creek Trail, and Colony Farm Road Trail. For those who have dogs, it's a great park to take them out to for a walk on-leash so that there is no disturbance to the wildlife.

This park features a community garden, providing those of us with a green thumb to plant and grow our very own vegetables and fruits.

Lafarge Lake is situated north of WESTWOOD in Coquitlam Town Centre Park and is the perfect place to unwind after a day of shopping at Coquitlam Centre. It’s a five hectare man-made urban lake that offers year round fishing of rainbow trout. Encircling the lake is a beautiful running route that welcomes walkers and joggers. The Evergreen Cultural Centre can also be found here and offers inexpensive theatrical productions for your enjoyment.

Just beyond the city, you can find a beautiful oasis surrounded by vast greenery that we call White Pine Beach. It is located near Anmore Village in Port Moody within the Belcarra Regional Park. It’s one of the most popular beach destinations in Greater Vancouver with many flocking to it for the clean fresh water and sandy beach. It’s a beach that can be enjoyed by all ages and is popular for sun tanning, picnics, hiking, and family fun.
