So you've just moved in. Now what? First things first: put aside a weekend, bribe your friends with pizza, and get ready to paint your new walls with colours to reflect the cozy or light and bright home you want to live in.

When choosing your colours, consider first which colors you are most naturally drawn towards.

Next, consider the effect that different colors have on your mood. Finally, keep in mind that darker colours will make a room feel smaller and tend to overwhelm small spaces and lighter colours make a room feel bigger.
Once you have chosen your paint color the exciting / challenging part starts! When painting your home there are a few tips we highly recommend you follow in order to see the best results.
Your first step is to prep your room by taping all of the corners and edges.

Taking the time to do this thoroughly will help you achieve professional results.
Using a brush:
Use your paint brush to paint corners, ceiling lines, and any areas adjacent to woodwork or moulding.
Using a roller:
When dipping the roller into the tray of paint remember to roll it back and forth on the ridged part of the tray before applying the roller to the wall. In doing this you are evening out the amount of paint on the roller.

For best results make sure to paint using diagonal or zigzag strokes. After covering the surface area with diagonal and zigzag strokes, then go back over the area using long, straight up and down strokes.

Paint in sections of roughly four feet in length and width to prevent thinning or thickening of the paint on the surface as well as any visible edges or lap lines from occurring. It is best to start from the ceiling down and paint one entire wall at a time.

All in all, it's an exhausting process but a thoroughly satisfying one. Good luck on painting the walls of your new homes everyone!
